Non- Certified applicants must pass a physical ability test which consists of:
- A 300 meter run in 70.1 seconds or less
- 24 push-ups in 1 minute or less
- A vertical jump of 15 inches or more
- 28 sit-ups in 1 minute or less
- A 1.5 mile run in 15.55 minutes or less

The Evesham Township Police Department is an internationally accredited agency whose members take pride in their proactive response to crime, disorder and quality of life issues. This approach recognizes our community’s high expectations for professional police services and has sustained a positive relationship with the community for many years.
The department is organized into two divisions: Operations and Administrative, and four bureaus: Patrol, Investigative, Support Services, and Training. We also offer various specialized assignments such as: K-9 Officers, Bike Patrol, Crime Scene Technicians, ATV Patrol, LEAD, Detective, School Resource Officers, Community Engagement, Humane Law Enforcement Officer, Training and Support Services. We offer our future officers a modern facility, excellent equipment, a proactive approach to training and access to one of the leading Officer Wellness Programs in the area.
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
• A citizen of the United States.
• Is of good mental and bodily health sufficient to satisfy the Board of Trustees of the Police and Firemen's Retirement System of New Jersey that would make the applicant eligible for membership in the retirement system.
• Is able to read, write and speak the English language well and intelligently.
• Is of good moral character and free from conviction of any crime constituting an indictable offense or any crime or offense involving moral turpitude.
• Is able to pass such written, oral, physical and psychological examinations as shall be selected by the Township Manager and meet essential job functions, to include a mental health records check to determine fitness to possess a firearm.
• Is a graduate from a senior high school or shall have had formal education or training showing attainment of the level represented by graduation from senior high school with a minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited college. Two years of active-duty military (or Coast Guard) service with an honorable discharge can be substituted for the sixty-college-credit requirement
• Is a holder of a valid New Jersey driver's license.
• Otherwise meets all requirements of N.J.S.A. 40A:14-122 to 40A:14-127
• Is 21 years of age
• 60 college credits from an accredited institution and/or 2 years of active military service.
Please read the below common disqualifiers before applying:
- Applicant is not a citizen of the United States.
- Applicant is not of good mental and bodily health sufficient to satisfy the Board of Trustees of the Police and Firemen's Retirement System of New Jersey that would make the applicant eligible for membership in the retirement system.
- Applicant is not able to read, write, and speak the English language well and intelligently.
- Applicant is not of good moral character and free from conviction of any crime constituting an indictable offense or any crime or offense involving moral turpitude.
- Applicant was convicted of any offense involving domestic violence, or is subject to a restraining order for any domestic violence related offense.
- Applicant is currently on probation.
- Applicant has been dishonorably discharged from any branch of military service or law enforcement agency.
- Applicant was adjudicated by a court or found by an employer to have violated any person’s civil rights.
- Applicant was convicted of an offense involving or touching on previous public office, position or employment. See N.J.S.A. 2C:51-2(d).
- Applicant sold, manufactured, or distributed any illegal controlled dangerous substance in his or her life.
- Applicant is or has been a member, associate, or affiliate of any subversive group, organization, person, or persons engaged is subversive and/or criminal activity against the United States, State of New Jersey, or any other recognized body of government.
- Applicant submits an application containing information, supplemental application, or any other document that is not true or misleading.
- Applicant intentionally omits information requested on the background supplement or any other document.
- Applicant intentionally provides false or misleading information in response to questions asked by the background investigator or designated police personnel.
- Applicant is unable to pass such written, oral, physical and psychological examinations as shall be selected by the Township Manager and meet essential job functions, to include a mental health records check to determine fitness to possess a firearm.
- Applicant is not a graduate from a senior high school or shall have had formal education or training showing attainment of the level represented by graduation from senior high school with a minimum of 60 college credits from an accredited college. Two years of active-duty military (or Coast Guard) service with an honorable discharge can be substituted for the sixty-college-credit requirement.
- Applicant has visible tattoo, body art, or branding that are deemed offensive, profane, unprofessional, inappropriate, or objectionable. (Examples: Anything indicating criminal gang affiliation, Depictions of sexually explicit art, Words or phrases that are considered vulgar; or symbols such as swastikas).
- Applicant is not a holder of a valid New Jersey driver's license.
- Applicant’s driving privilege is currently revoked or suspended in this or any other state.
- Applicant must otherwise meet all requirements of N.J.S.A. 40A:14-122 to 40A:14-127
- Applicant is not 21 years of age.
