Evesham Township Police Department is proud to announce the designation of a safety zone where citizens can make sales and purchases through sites like Craigslist and Facebook Market Place.

The safe transaction zones is designed to help protect our citizens as robberies, thefts and scams become more prevalent with online transaction sites.

The zone has been set up in the lobby of the Evesham Township Police Headquarters at 984 Tuckerton Road, Marlton NJ. The lobby and surrounding parking lots are well-lit and monitored by state of the art surveillance system. The lobby of the Evesham Police Department, 984 Tuckerton Road, is open 8:30a.m. to 4:30p.m. Monday through Friday.

While the Evesham Police Department will not provide police personnel or staff to witness these transactions in person, the building's video surveillance and proximity to police headquarters is meant to increase the public's peace of mind when they meet strangers to buy or sell an item.

Additional safety precautions:

• We want to encourage you to meet at our police station.
• Our police station is open 24 hours a day, but we want to encourage you to not do transactions at night.
• Never meet in a secluded area.
• Never invite strangers to your home, or go to a stranger’s house.
• Use your instincts. If a deal is too good to be true, it probably is.
• Always be cautious when purchasing/ selling a high priced item.
